Swami Rama Himalayan University invites applications from eligible candidates for PGMEE 2016, Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Examination – 2016 for selection of candidates for admission to Postgraduate Courses in Medicine (MD/MS/DIPLOMA) for the academic year 2016-17 in the constituent colleges of Swami Rama Himalayan University.

Important Dates

  • Last date for submission of application forms: 11th January, 2016 
  • Date of Uploading of Admit Cards: By 25th January, 2016 
  • Date & Time of Entrance Examination: 31st January, 2016 (Sunday) 10:00 A.M. To 01:00 P.M. 
  • Declaration of Result: 02nd week of February, 2016


  1. A candidate, who holds M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized medical college or a foreign medical degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained permanent registration either from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any of the authorized State Medical Council (SMC) after completing 12-months compulsory rotating internship shall be eligible to take this examination.
  2. However, a candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (M.B.B.S. or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing 12-months compulsory rotating internship and is likely to complete the same by 31st March, 2016 can take up this examination, such candidates will have to submit a certificate from the head of institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March, 2016. They shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship by 31st March, 2016 and obtained permanent registration.
  3. The candidates who have obtained M.B.B.S. degree from the Medical Colleges which are not recognized by MCI shall not be eligible to appear in this examination.

Application Procedure

  1. A candidate seeking to appear in the PG Entrance Examination is required to send his/her application form in the prescribed format, along with self attested photocopies of the requisite documents.
  2. The candidate should fill in the application form in his/her own handwriting (in capital letters) clearly and legibly. Candidates are advised to keep the Photo copy of the same for future correspondence.
  3. The Application Form must be accompanied with self-attested photocopies of the following documents :
    (a) Date of birth certificate or High School certificate containing date of birth.
    (b) Mark sheets of M.B.B.S. examinations (all professional examinations).
    (c) M.B.B.S. degree or Provisional passing certificate.
    (d) Internship completion certificate or certificate from the head of the institution that the candidate will be completing the internship by 31st March, 2016.
    (e) Permanent/Provisional registration certificate issued by M.C.I./State Medical Council.
    (f) Caste certificate in case of S.C./ S.T./ O.B.C. candidates (If applicable).
    (g) Permanent resident certificate issued by the designated authority (DM/SDM) for candidates claiming to be the Permanent resident of Uttarakhand
    (h) Two self addressed registered envelopes.
    (i) Two recent passport size colored photographs (photographs should be same as affixed on the application form).
  4. Application form complete in all respect along with a Demand draft of ` 3500/- (Rupees three thousand five hundred only) should be sent to the Controller of Examinations, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Swami Ram Nagar, Jolly Grant, Dehradun 248016 (Uttarakhand) by Speed Post/Registered Post or deposited by hand at the office of the Controller of Examinations. Application received after the prescribed last date shall be rejected. 
  5. Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “Swami Rama Himalayan University” payable at State Bank of India, Jolly Grant (Branch code No- 10580), Dehradun.

Examination Pattern

  1. There will be one paper of 3 (three) hours duration containing 250 Multiple Choice Questions consisting of all the subjects of M.B.B.S. curriculum. 
  2. The questions will be single response objective type. 
  3. The tentative number of questions from each subject will be as given below:- Anatomy (10), Physiology (10), Biochemistry (10), Pharmacology (10), Pathology (15), Microbiology (10), Forensic Medicine (10), Social and Preventive Medicine (15), Ophthalmology (10), ENT (10), Medicine & allied (50), Surgery & allied (50), Obst & Gynae (30) and Paediatrics (10).  
  4. The examination will be conducted in English medium only.
  5. For each correct response, a candidate shall be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted for every wrong response. Zero mark will be given for the questions not attempted. More than one answer indicated against a question will be considered as incorrect response and will attract one negative mark.

The PGMEE - 2016 will be held in New Delhi.

Admit Card

On the basis of information given in the Application form, admit cards of provisionally eligible candidates will be uploaded on the University website (www.srhu.edu.in) by 25th Jan, 2016.


The Result of PGMEE – 2016, shall be declared by 02nd week of February, 2016.  The merit list will be displayed on the notice board of the University & will also be made available on University website. 


Candidates who secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination shall be considered for admission for Postgraduate Medical Courses. A merit list shall be prepared by the University based on the Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination results. Based on this merit list, the candidates are required to choose the course of their choice at the time of counseling.
