Kerala PGDEE 2016 - PG Dental Entrance Examination, Application Form, Dates

Government of Kerela, Commissioner  for Entrance Examination has announced Post Graduate Dental Entrance Examination PGDEE 2016. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to MDS Courses for the year 2016 to the State Quota seats in the Government Dental Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kottayam in Kerala and to the 50% seats available in the Self Financing Dental colleges in Kerala.

Important Dates

  • Online Application Form Available From: 26th December 2015 to 07th January 2016 (03.00 pm)
  • The Last Date for Submission of Filled-in-Application Form is 07th January 2016
  • Date of Entrance Exam: 07th February 2016 


  • Applicant should have passed the BDS degree from an approved Dental College and duly awarded by any one of the Universities in Kerala or duly recognized by the Government of India as equivalent there to under the Indian Dentists Act, 1948 and who has obtained permanent registration from the Kerala State Dental Council after passing the final BDS examination or its equivalent there to with eligibility for full Registration in Kerala State Dental Council in all respects. 
  • Applicants who have completed one year (12 months) Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship (CRRI) as per DCI regulations in an approved/recognized Dental College on or before 31-03-2016 are eligible to apply. 
  • The condition of one year Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship is not applicable to those candidates who had passed their final BDS Examination on or before 1988 and hold a BDS Degree from a Dental College recognized by the Dental Council of India and have obtained provisional or permanent registration from the Kerala State Dental Council. Admission to the candidate will be given only on the production of the registration of Kerala State Dental Council in original.

Applicants should have satisfied any of the following conditions:
  • Be an Indian Citizen of Kerala Origin. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian Citizens for the limited purpose of admission. However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation. 
  • Candidates, who are sons/daughters of Non-Keralite parents and have obtained BDS degree from any of the Dental Colleges in the Kerala State. But they will not be eligible for communal/PD reservation benefits. 

 Age: There is no upper age limit for General Quota (GQ) candidates.

How to Apply

  • All candidates seeking admission to the MDS Courses - 2016, Kerala can apply in the online application form available from 26.12.2015 to 07.01.2016, 3 p.m. in the website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. 
  • Candidate can remit the application fee either by selecting the online payment option/e-chellan. They can use net banking/debit card/credit card for online payment. 
  • Those who use the e-chellan the required fee has to be remited at any branch of the State Bank of Travancore. 
  • Those who do not use the online payment/e-chellan facility have to select the ‘Demand Draft’ option for fee payment and can remit the application fee by attaching along with the application, a Demand Draft for the requisite amount drawn on a Nationalised Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examination payable at Thiruvananthapuram. 
  • Application fee for Genertal Quota and Service Quota candidates is Rs.1000/- and in the case of SC/ST candidates   is Rs.500/- .Service Quota candidates seeking admission in General Quota also, should pay extra Rs.1000/-
  • All Candidates should take the printout of the online application, affix their left hand thumb impression and passport size photograph (same as the one uploaded to the online application) in the spaces provided in it. 
  • Get it attested by a Government Gazetted Officer and forward their completed application with all the required documents to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram — 695 001, either by Registered Post/ Speed Post/Hand Delivery so as to reach him before  5 pm on 07.01.2016 (Thursday).
  • Service Candidates in addition should forward a copy of the completed application along with all required documents including their service details to the Controlling Officer concerned as stipulated in the prospectus, on or before  5 pm on 07.01.2016 (Thursday).

Qualifying Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission to any Postgraduate Dental Course in 2016, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Examination.However in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC)-the minimum marks shall be at 40%. In respect of candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks shall be at 45%. For Service Quota candidates the minimum marks for qualifying the Entrance Examination will be 50%.

PGDEE 2016 Pattern

The Entrance Examination will consists of one paper of three hours duration and having 200 objective type (multiple choice) questions.

Admit Card

Candidates eligible to appear for the Entrance Examination for admission to the MDS courses will be issued with the admit cards which can be downloaded from the website from the date notified.
