Amrita School of Communication ASCOM, Amrita University has released notification for 2017-2018 Admissions. Amrita School of Communication conducts a CAP Test (Communication Aptitude Test) every year at the Ettimadai campus to its 3 year B.A Mass Communication programme, 2 year M.A Communication programme and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ) offered at its Ettimadai (Coimbatore) campus.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria will be admitted to the first year of the 3 year B.A, M.A and PGDJ programmes, based on their performance in the CAP Test, Interview and Group Discussion (applicable only for M.A and PGDJ Programmes).

The Mass Communication Curriculum is based on the internationally-acclaimed UNESCO model.

B. A. Mass Communication
  1. Pass in 10+2 examination with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. 
  2. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Visit (link is external) (link is external), for applying online for Equivalence Certificate.

M. A. in Communication & P. G. Diploma in Journalism (P. G. D. J.)
  1. A pass in bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with an aggregate 50% marks. 
  2. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Visit for details. Candidates with appropriate industry experience will have an added advantage.

Submission Check List:
  1. Duly filled application form
  2. 2 Photographs
  3. Attested photocopies of
    a) 10th and 122th Std Mark Sheets  for B.A applications
    b) 10th and  12th  Std Mark Sheets  and Mark Sheets for all semesters of the Bachelor’s programme for M.A applications*
    NOTE: Candidates who have appeared for their 12th examinations and are awaiting results can produce attested copies of their 11th Mark sheets when they appear for the CAP Test. Only at the time of joining, they have to produce their 12th results.
  4. A demand draft for Rs.500/- made out in favour of “Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham” payable at ‘Coimbatore’.
  5. 10th T. C. (if applicable)
  6. Community Certificate

Instructions for filling up the application form:
  1. Multiple applications submitted by a candidate will be rejected.
  2. If payment is not done, the application will be treated as incomplete and rejected without any notice.
  3. Change in the application form data is not allowed after the submission.
  4. Only students who produce original mark sheets for verification will be allowed to appear in the entrance test
  5. For special cases, a SKYPE evaluation process can be arranged, subject to the discretion of the department. In such cases, candidate is advised to attach a request letter (mentioning their SKYPE ID) to the admissions coordinator, along with the 6 items mentioned in the Submission Check List.
*Copy of provisional degree certificate/degree certificate should be produced at the time of writing the entrance exam

  • Group Discussion (GD)
  • Personal Interview (PI)

* Candidates with more than 70% aggregate marks during the first two years of their degree are exempted from appearing for the CAPTEST. However, they will have to appear for personal interview. 
Students who qualify for personal interviews will be allotted fast track interview slots on priority basis before the actual CAPTEST slots. 


The sections in each year’s question paper differ according to the discretion of the CAPTEST examiners, but the topics covered always include Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning and English Grammar.
