UCEED 2016
Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay announces Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design 2016 (UCEED 2016). UCEED is the entrance examination for admission to the B. Des programme at the Industrial Design Centre (IDC) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.Further details, including Applications, Information Brochures, Registration fee to be paid, Important dates, Eligibility, Test Pattern etc., are made available here.
The first UCEED was conducted in 2015 and UCEED qualified candidates were admitted to the B. Des programmes at IIT Bombay and IIITDM Jabalpur in the academic year 2015-2016. UCEED 2016 is the second year of the examination, and a few more institutes are expected to also admit students to their B. Des programmes through UCEED qualification. Eligibility

  1. The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1996 if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category and on or after October 1, 1991 if belonging to the SC, ST or PwD category.
  2. A candidate can attempt UCEED for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years. Note that UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the corresponding academic year.
  3. The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2015, OR will appear in 2016. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2014 or earlier are NOT eligible.

  1. All the candidates must first REGISTER online before proceeding to fill the application form. You may do this by clicking the Apply Online link on the UCEED website.
  2. Provide the correct phone number, email id, and note down the password and application id. They are critical for later transactions such as checking UCEED application status, correcting discrepancies (if any) & re-uploading documents, downloading Admit Card, checking UCEED Results, downloading Score Card, checking B. Des application status etc.
  3. Upload the files containing photograph, signature, eligibility certificate and other supporting documents.
  4. Applicants can make the fee payment using Internet banking, Credit card or Debit card through the payment gateway.
  5. Once your payment is successfully completed, you will get a confirmation page. Keep a copy of this. This is only for your reference.

Admit Cards

Candidates whose application is complete in all aspects will be able to download the admit card from this website from 23 Dec 2015, 17:00 hours.

Test Venues

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

Test Pattern

  1. There will be ONE question paper for 3 hours duration.
  2. The question paper will be in English.
  3. The question paper will be administered through a computer based test.
  4. The question paper will carry a total of 300 marks.
  5. The question paper will contain a total of 80 questions distributed among the 6 topics provided in the syllabus.
  6. The question paper will consist of 3 sections.
  7. All 3 sections have NEGATIVE marking.
SECTION A:Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
For NAT questions, the answer is a number that needs to be entered using a virtual keyboard in the computer screen. No choices will be shown for these questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and each wrong answer will be awarded –1 mark. Questions not attempted will be given zero marks.

SECTION B:Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
Each MSQ has one or more choice(s) as the correct answer out of the four given choices. An answer is considered correct only if ALL the correct choices and NO wrong choices are selected. Each correct answer will be awarded 5 marks and each wrong answer will be awarded –0.5 marks. There is NO PARTIAL marks. Questions not attempted will be given zero marks.

SECTION C: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one is the correct answer. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks and each wrong answer will be awarded –1 mark. Questions not attempted will be given zero marks.
