Eligibility:

M.Sc. Nursing


  1. Passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic  B.Sc.  Nursing  by  The  Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai or any other University accepted as  equivalent  there  to with minimum of 55 % aggregate marks.
  2. Registered with the State Registration Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery. Male candidates who do not possess Midwifery registration certificate are not eligible to apply for M.Sc.(N) – Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing irrespective of the experience in the area.
  3. Minimum one year of experience in a hospital or  in  a College or in School of Nursing or in Community Health Programme from the date of registration in the State Nursing Council after B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing (or) after / prior to Post Basic B.Sc.  Nursing.
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Post Basic B.Sc.Nursing


  1. Passed Higher Secondary /  Senior  Secondary  / Intermediate  / 10 + 2 / an equivalent examination recognized by the University/ 10 + 1 on or before the year 1986.
  2. Passed the qualification of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course.
  3. Permanent registration certificate with the State Registration Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course approved  by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery in any one of the following areas.O.T. TechniquesOphthalmic NursingLeprosy NursingTB NursingPsychiatric NursingNeurological and Neuro Surgical NursingCommunity Health NursingCancer NursingOrthopedic Nursing
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Post Basic Diploma in Nursing


  1. Passed the qualification of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course / B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  2. Permanent registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course (applicable to male candidates)
  3. Minimum one year of work experience as on 1st July 2016 in any clinical area in the hospital or in the community.
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Fellowship in Nursing


  1. Passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree of The Tamil Nadu    Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai or any other University accepted as equivalent there to
  2. Permanent registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course (applicable to male candidates)

Application forms can be accessed only online through the Christian Medical College website http://www.admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in from 05-10-2015Duly filled application forms must be submitted online with the basic administrative fee and registration fee for each speciality for the course applied before  12 midnight on 26-11-2015.

Selection Process

  1. Candidates who have applied for M.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic Diploma in Nursing / Fellowship in Nursing will appear for Step I Computer Based Test (CBT). 
  2. The short listed candidates called for Step II of the Selection process (Medical Checkup and Assessment of Knowledge and Skills / Personal Interviews) will be published in the website on 29th January 2016 and also intimated to individuals by post.
